The Panamint Kangaroo Rat uses their two hind legs to hop around in order to move. Thus, they have acquired the name “kangaroo” rat. They live in higher elevations around 3,900-6,400 feet above sea level and inhabit holes in the ground. Their diet consists of seeds, berries, grasses, and insects.
