The California Quail’s head plume is a group of six feathers and is a significant feature in identifying male birds. Male and female mating pairs orchestrate alternating calls in a specific pattern which is called antiphonally. While eating seeds, leaves, berries, and flowers, they also eat invertebrates in which can sustain their water needs and they can go without water. California Quail are found in chaparral, sagebrush, and the high desert and have been placed in places all over the world for gaming.
