A slate blue bird with white patches, Belted Kingfishers have a sharp dagger-like bill perfect for grabbing fish. They can be found near bodies of water in which they perch or hover over the water searching for fish to prey on. Males have a sharp crest on the top of thier head while females have a shaggier crest on top thier head and females have rust orange patches on its underside. These birds have been around for a while as Pleistocene fossils of Belted Kingfishers have been unearthed.
